Absentee Voting

A voter may vote absentee if:

  • Absent from the city or town during normal polling hours on election day; or
  • Physical disability preventing you from going to the polling place; or
  • Religious belief

Absentee Ballot Applications must be filled out prior to receiving an absentee ballot. Please come into the office to complete an application or download an absentee ballot application online at the above link. The deadline to obtain an absentee ballot is always noon on the last workday before the scheduled election. For permanently disabled voters, you must submit a doctor's note to our office along with your application and a new application will be sent to you automatically after January 1st of each year.

Once the application is received in our office, a ballot will be processed and mailed to the voter or the voter can vote in person at the Office of the Town Clerk during regular business hours.

Early Voting

Any registered voter can vote early by mail or in person.  There are no requirements to vote early as opposed to Absentee Voting.  Early Voting by mail is available as soon as the Town Clerk's Office receives ballots.  An application must be filed to vote early by mail not later than 5 days prior to the scheduled election.  In person early voting is available for one week prior to Presidential and State Primaries and two weeks prior to all State Elections.  Early voting in person for local elections is available upon a vote of the Board of Selectmen.
