Are the ocean waves too dangerous for my child?

Well, that depends on a number of things. At dead high and dead low tide, the ocean is relatiLow tidevely calm
but during the tide changes (high tide coming in and low tide going out) is when the waves are at their greatest.
Depending upon the age of your child, he or she may want to try to ride those waves with a boogie board, surf board or simply body surf. Often at low tide, a tidal pool will have formed on the beach, creating a small lake in the sand where small children love to play.  We have two high and two low tides in each 24 hour period. The times of the tides change daily. During the summer months, LeCount Hollow Beach is manned with a lifeguard daily from 9 am to 5 pm.
The lifeguards will make swimmers stay out of the ocean anytime they deem it unsafe.

Is your tap water safe to drink?

Here at Surf Side, we have well water.  As required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, we have a certified public water operator, on staff, who monitors the well's operation and who regularly sends water samples to a state certified laboratory for testing. Our water consistently passes all tests and is pure and drinkable. It is not clorinated or flourinated.
It is just good, clean water with no flavor. I drink it and love it, and I'm sure, you will too.

Am I supposed to clean my cottage at the end of my stay?

The short answer is....yes.  All of our renters are expected to leave their cottage in the same condition as they found it when they checked in. The dishes should be clean and dry and put away.  Dirt and sand should be vacuumed from every room.  Spills should be cleaned from the floors, inside the refrigerator, cabinet fronts and the side of appliances.  The bathroom should be clean and in good order.  The supplied bedding (bedspreads, blankets, pillows, mattress pads) should be washed if needed.  You can also hire a local company called  The Furies. , They have been cleaning cottages for some of our vacation guests for a number of years.

Do I need to bring my own linens and towels?

Our cottages rent without sheets, pillowcases and towels and most renters bring their own. Each cottage's description explains the quantity and sizes of beds. Mattress pads, blankets, bedspreads, pillows and pillow protectors are supplied.
If you will be traveling a long distance to visit us or if you just don't want to pack linens and towels, they are available for rent for the additional fee of $20.00 per person per week.  With advanced notice, we can have your linens and towels ready for you in your cottage when you arrive. We will launder the linens at the end of your stay so you don't have to.
